June might be one of Maine’s most underrated wedding months. Everything is green, the days are incredibly long, and summer is just beginning to settle in.
The Landscape
By June, the farm has fully come back to life. The lawns are typically lush and bright green, trees have filled out, and the hay field is just beginning to come into its glory. The grasses grow taller as the month progresses, creating that soft, swaying texture that looks especially beautiful in photos.
June also has a softness to it that we adore. Before the deeper greens and bolder colors of midsummer take over, pastel palettes truly shine; blush, butter yellow, pale blue, lavender, peach and soft green all feel perfectly at home against the early-summer landscape.
The Weather
Early June days are usually comfortable, with average highs around 72°F during the second week of the month and nighttime temperatures around 53°F. By the fourth week of June, average highs are closer to 76°F, with evenings around 57°F.
Of course, this is Maine, so an unusually cool day - or an unexpectedly hot one - is always possible. But generally, June gives us warm afternoons followed by cooler evenings. If you're planning an outdoor reception, a light layer for later in the night is never a bad idea.
What About the Bugs?
This is one of the questions couples either don't even consider... or obsess over.
Black flies can still make an appearance through the first weekend or so of June. After that, we typically experience a welcome little lull in insect activity before mosquitoes become more noticeable around the beginning of July.
For couples who love the idea of an outdoor ceremony, cocktail hour or spending plenty of time outside with their guests, mid-to-late June can be a particularly lovely window.

You can enjoy a leisurely dinner without feeling like you need to rush outside for portraits - and still sneak away later for golden-hour photos as the sun drops behind the pond.

If we had to describe June at Meadow Ridge Farm in a few words: fresh, green, soft and romantic.
After a long Maine winter, there's an almost electric energy to June - everything is green, everything is growing, and it feels like the season we've all been waiting for has finally arrived. The fields are growing, the evenings stretch on forever, and the whole property feels like it's waking up for the season.
For couples drawn to soft colors, outdoor celebrations and that unmistakable early-summer-in-Maine feeling, June is hard to beat.
